Vacuum Bag Information and Advice

September 2nd, 2010 by baglessvacuum No comments »

It all began with a fellow named Ives MsGaffney in Chicago who was approached by the Chicago Carpet Cleaning Company to develop a dirt cleaner possibly for commercial use. His research led him to develop what we know today as the vacuum cleaner. This is suction type that sweeps the floor by means of pressure suction and therefore collects all the dirt and debris on the floor. His research was seconded by another gentleman names Melville who developed a vacuum cleaning device and presented it to his wife as a gift. He later died and his wife took the mantle and commercialized the vacuum cleaner becoming one of the most influential women in her time.

Today, vacuum cleaners are extremely important and also indispensable. They use a whirlpool suction pressure ump that collects dirt and dust from under and then routes this in a vacuum bag that is attached to the cleaner. Today, vacuum cleaners are used in homes and offices because this is the only way to clean carpets, which have become a common feature of offices and homes.

When you vacuum-clean your floor or carpet, the suction picks up the lose dirt or dust particles from under the cleaner and stores it inside the vacuum bag that is attached to the cleaner. Once the bag is full it can either be emptied or simply replaced. There are vacuum cleaners in today’s market that do not use vacuum bags. They boast a much more efficient cleaning mechanism that essentially eliminates the need to keep replacing the bag. While these cleaners are taking the cleaning world by storm, there are still many who are yet to make the transition to the new type of bagless cleaners. This can be attributed to the fact that the cleaners with the vacuum bags still have some advantages as well. Imagine vacuuming and then not knowing what you vacuumed. The vacuum bags can easily be emptied and the contents retrieved. Take for instance you lose something like a wedding ring or a precious coin or a key, you can simply vacuum the house and then empty the bag. If your item was on the floor you will easily be able to retrieve it. The bagless cleaners may not make this possible because the bag or canister is securely attached to the machine and the suction force is created to literally obliterate the dirt.

Also because there is a real huge part of the population that still has the old fashioned cleaners, it is easy to get support and advice regarding any support or questions that one might have. This support is in the form of friends and neighbors who even though they may have made the transition to the bagless cleaner, may still possess one or two of the regular cleaners with the cleaners.

What You Need to Know About Cordless Vacuum Cleaners

August 30th, 2010 by baglessvacuum No comments »

Are you tired of lugging a heavy vacuum cleaner with a long cord that gets tangled everywhere? Then the answer for you is a cordless vacuum cleaner. These vacuums do not need a cord and one of their big advantages is that they are exceptionally light in weight. They have small components such as small electric motors that use DC current and suction fans. They are very easily available in department stores as well as home improvement stores like Home Depot or Lowe’s and also in appliance stores. Another great place to shop for your cordless vacuum cleaner is the internet. You can look at a wide variety of models with different features in different price ranges from the comfort of your home thus making you more confident in your decision.

Cordless ones have a very good reach and this enables you to clean dust from small as well as hard to reach areas. They are also multifunctional. They can be used to clean both large areas such as kitchens and stairs as well as small areas such as your car. They can be used to clean pet hair, your electronics such as a computer, etc. The input electrical power range of these machines can be anywhere from 20 watts to 200 watts. There are also some cordless hand held vacuums available in the market.

Advantages:

1. No cord to pull behind you everywhere you use your vacuum cleaner to clean.

2. Very light in weight.

3. Can be used to clean big areas as well as small spaces.

4. Very useful to clean your small electronic gadgets including PDA, mobile phones, MP3 players, palmtops, PDA as well as your desktop PC.

5. If the area you want to clean is out of the range of the cord of your wired vacuum cleaner you have to bring out extension cords. But a cordless vacuum cleaner lets you avoid this hassle.

6. Some manufacturers like Eureka Forbes claim lower power consumption by their models. This helps you save on electricity.

7. Most of the models are bagless. They have a detachable collection chamber which you empty out once it is full. You end up saving a lot of money by not having to buy replacement bags.

Disadvantages:

1. One disadvantage of the cordless units is that you have to remember to recharge the batteries. So you may find the batteries dead when you need to use your machine. There are however, some cordless models that you can hook a cord up to when you find yourself in a situation where you want to clean but the batteries are worn out. Some models by Dirt Devil come with a recharging base that the sweeper can be left on at all times. They guarantee that neither you charger or battery will get damaged. This eliminates your worry of having to remember to charge the batteries after each use. Another model – Black & Decker CHV1400 14.4 volt Cyclonic DustBuster – by Black & Decker comes with a recharging base that you can mount to any wall.

2. The longevity of the batteries per use is not that high.

A cordless vacuum cleaner is a great alternative to a classic broom. It is not tedious to pull out your cordless vacuum cleaner to clean repeatedly as it is so light in weight. This makes it perfect for daily cleaning.

With the ease and flexibility of your cordless vacuum cleaner you may find that your cleaning job is not such a boring chore after all.

10 Reasons You Need a Central Vacuum Cleaner

August 28th, 2010 by baglessvacuum No comments »

If you’re in the process of choosing a new vacuum then perhaps you’ve already decided on a central vacuum cleaner, and know about the features and benefits, and why it’s right for you and your home. If you’re not sure why a central vacuum cleaner might be just what you’re looking for, then here’s what you need to know.

1. With a central vacuum cleaner, you can move from room to room with ease. Instead of having to carry an upright or canister cleaner, you only need to carry the hose. This makes them ideal for the larger home.

2. This means that you no longer have to carry a vacuum up and down stairs, or have to have a separate one for upstairs. You might have a separate hose for upstairs, but you won’t need to have another cleaner.

3. All you need to do is to plug the hose in to a socket on the wall, and then you can start to clean your room in the same way you would with a more traditional vacuum.

4. The dirt is collected in a central bag which is hidden from view behind your walls, but is easy to access and empty. Depending on the central vacuum system you choose, you might only need to empty the bag once a year.

5. If you’re thinking that you may struggle to get the same levels of cleanliness from a central cleaner, then you’ll be pleased to know that you can get the same sort of attachments as for cylinder and upright cleaners. You can choose from such accessories as crevice tools, pet hair brushes and rigid hoses.

6. If you’ve got pets, or somebody in your family suffers from allergies, then you’ll want to choose a system with HEPA filters, which will take out more of the dust and dirt from the air and the carpets, and leave your home cleaner. Many central cleaners have HEPA filters as standard, or as an option.

7. If you home has a combination of carpets and hardwood floors, then you’ll want a cleaner that can clean both. Why not choose a central vacuum cleaner that is just as capable of cleaning wood as carpet, so you don’t need a separate floor cleaner.

8. An effective central vacuum cleaner will also be able to clean your mattresses, so that you will reduce the risk of allergens in your home.

9. Unlike the vast majority of other vacuums, central vacuums are quiet in use. You can have a conversation whilst vacuuming, or vacuum whilst other people are in the room, and not disturb them.

10. Although it may initially require more effort to install a central vacuum cleaner than an upright or canister cleaner, but it is well worth it to keep your home clean efficiently and effectively.

Now you know more about them, and the benefits they can bring to your home, perhaps now is the time for you to choose a central vacuum cleaner.

Best Deals Vacuum Review – Hoover U5269-900 EmPower Bagless Upright Vacuum

August 27th, 2010 by baglessvacuum No comments »

In our search for the best vacuums under $100, Hoover continued to impress us. Hoover has been around for as long as there have been vacuum cleaners, and the reason is obvious. They simply make good machines, and their U5269-900 EmPower is certainly no exception.

The unit arrived in a nondescript box that did not have the usual laundry list of specs and features listed. Therefore, I was not sure if Hoover was trying to hide something or not. However, I was determined to figure out which.

Upon opening the box, I was surprised by how light the unit was (this will make those trips up and down the stairs much easier). Though not heavy at all, it seemed surprisingly well made for a unit of its weight and price range. The carry handle is also very well placed, and makes hauling the unit around much less of a chore.

Once unboxed and assembled, I observed that the unit had been well designed, in terms of attachment placement and build quality. The vacuum reviews of other units similarly priced showed that this not the case with all vacuums reviewed in our search. The cord was long enough to provide coverage in most large rooms. In fact when used in apartments and smaller homes, unplugging the vacuum may not be necessary.

After I had finished visually inspecting the unit, it was time to put it through the real tests. Sucking up dirt and pet hair! This is where vacuums either shine or fade away, and this machine did its part to live up to its proud Hoover heritage. Though there are certainly more powerful units available, no other vacuum that we have reviewed in this price range even comes close to the U5269-900, in terms of raw suction power.

In fact, the unit is so powerful, that the spinning brush ALMOST seems to have the effect of making the unit a self-propelled unit. Although this unit does not have the self-propelled feature, some users will think it does. It cut through our everyday dirt and pet hair tests with minimal effort, and left the carpets very clean. It was also better at cleaning in corners and along walls than any other vacuum reviewed in our search.

When tested in our filtration monitoring room, the unit performed in line with standards set for HEPA based filters, and performed as intended. Therefore, it is effective at trapping most allergens and air impurities.

As good as this vacuum cleaner is though, there are a couple of things that could have been better. For one, clean up of the canister is often very messy and cumbersome. If the canister is shaken too much, it causes the infamous dust cloud. In addition, the ‘Hush Mode’ of the unit is not as effective in noise suppression, as other vacuums reviewed in our search.

Obviously, this is because the unit is so much more powerful than any other vacuum in our test group. Nevertheless, the Hoover U5269-900 was the clear winner in our search for the best vacuum in the sub $100 price range.

Hoover Elite Rewind Upright Bagless U5507900 Vacuum Cleaner Review

August 24th, 2010 by baglessvacuum No comments »

The Hoover Elite Rewind Upright Bagless U5507900 is a bagless design vacuum cleaner with an E-Z Empty Bottom Release Dirt Cup and a lifetime HEPA filter. The 24′ power cord is retractable which deletes the need to manually wind up the cord after each use. There are 7 height adjustments, headlight, and an air flow indicator that signals when the dirt cup is full and the filter needs to be cleaned. In addition, this model also includes an on-board tool kit that includes a long crevice wand, a combination dusting brush and upholstery tool and a deluxe stretch hose capable of a 9′ extended release for cleaning hard-to-reach areas. Selling for under $130 dollars, this vacuum cleaner seems like a good value, especially with an included 1-year warranty.

The Hoover Elite Rewind Upright Bagless U5507900 is an impressive-looking machine with a strong-appearing design and a bold cherry-red color. The deluxe furniture guard is a generous wide black band that is attached across the front of the base. The guard is thick and protects baseboards and furniture from scratches. The tool set is included with the vacuum cleaner and stores nicely on the unit for easy access. In addition to the on-board tool kit, a powered pet hair removal tool is included and also stores on the handle. The powerful 12 amp motor and 15″ widepath cleaning combined with the tool kit make this quite a good find at this price point. For the money, this is a fully featured vacuum cleaner with a lot of suction and a well-thought out design.

The Hoover Elite Rewind is equipped with a powered pet hair tool that is really effective on pet hair, especially when it is compared to the equivalent Eureka Vacuum Cleaner. This machine is a better-made unit than those produced by Eureka, particularly Eureka’s 4D Pet Fresh vacuum. The Hoover far surpasses the amount of suction provided to the attachment tools, including the pet hair tool, resulting in more hair, dander and other debris ending up in the dirt cup. The nice thing about this particular model of Hoover is that it also has a deluxe hose for 9′ of extended reach cleaning. The extra hose length is wonderful for cleaning wall and ceiling fixtures, baseboards, under furniture and on stairs.

The only feature that is really lacking on the Hoover Elite Rewind is self-propulsion, which is a nice thing to have on heavier vacuum cleaners. At around 17 lbs, this machine isn’t overly heavy, but it weighs enough that self-propulsion would make a difference if the operator had large amounts of carpeting to cover on a regular basis. One great thing about this unit that does save the operator time is the automatic rewind of the power cord, which does tend to be quite aggressive. It is recommended that caution be used while the cord rewinds due the rapid retreat of the power cord and the prongs at the end on the plug. Without care, it is possible to get walloped by the fast moving plug.

With a HEPA filter, 24′ retractable cord, 9′deluxe stretch hose, powered pet hair tool, 15″ widepath cleaning, bagless design and other helpful features, the Hoover Elite Rewind is a good value vacuum cleaner at a decent price. The 1-year warranty included with this Hoover unit and the fact that the machine has a washable filter and requires no bags makes this a really good deal for someone in the market for a new vacuum cleaner.
